Conservative run Stratford on Avon District Council have served notice on the Trustees of the Greig Centre for non payment of outstanding sums of money. An agreement dating back to 2005 saw the Council provide funding to the centre and enable many facilities at the Greig. The Council have now started proceedings against the trustees.
Cllr Lynda Organ, Resources and Property Portfolio says: “‘Stratford-on-Avon District Council is committed to the long term provision of leisure facilities in Alcester and has earmarked £500,000 for improvements to the Lifestyles building. The District Council has worked with the Trust since 2014 endeavouring to achieve a managed transfer of the facility, with the District Council providing significant financial support to ensure the facility did not close during this period.””
